On the 1st November 2016 it was our first day in the studio.
We did a little experience where we had to film a short 20 minutes talk show.
My role was to be one of the camera operators along with two other people.

Task 1
We Are London
Natalie, Veera, Daisy, Tim, Dianni, Lucy, Zain, Jacira, Dimitar
Tim’s Idea - We Are London
A talk show where young people discuss crime and violence within their community, and ways to tackle it. Using creativity (music, spoken word etc) as a positive way to vent their frustrations rather than turn to criminal activity and the show as a platform to showcase their talents.
Natalie’s Idea - Press Play
A talk show focused around the discussion of upcoming music and a platform for young musicians to showcase their talents.
Similarities
Both talk shows, both platforms for talented young people
First day in the TV studio
In the Television studio, we practised using the equipment by recording an improvised television show called Build or Break, similar to shows like the Jeremy Kyle show and the Maury show. I played the role of lighting technician, where I operated the lighting from the control room. I was already familiar with the controls as I have operated similar equipment.
I also operated a camera on the studio floor during our second improvised practice. Whilst the camera controls look complicated, I found it fairly easy to operate and enjoyed doing so.

Production meeting 2

We spent the lesson discussing the format of our talk show episode and began to storyboard the action. We managed to complete the first 6 shots, with illustrations.
Production meeting 1
25/10/16
Tim and Natalie pitched our ideas again to our group and discussed their similarities and differences. We chose to use Tim’s original title, “We Are London” and his idea of using music to tackle crime in young people. Tim suggested we have the show be an hour long, but Danielle has since informed us that our show must be 20 minutes long
